Hello, everyone!

Since a lot of you displayed interest in joining a Secret Santa, I am holding one this year!



Deadlines

The Secret Santa signup ends on November 30^th. That's one week from today. In this case, "signing up" means commenting on this journal as outlined in the last section.

Please post your picture/written work to your gallery or scraps by December 23^rd and note me a link so that I can make sure that it is done. If you do not finish it and post it as a deviation, then you will not receive your Secret Santa gift. If you'll be gone on that day, that's no problem—you can finish early.

I will comment on your page with a link to your Secret Santa gift on December 25^th (unless you did not post your gift).



Giving your Secret Santa the Info

After I reply to your comment here (verifying that you are in), please write a journal for your Secret Santa. For example, if I were in the Secret Santa, I might write this:

Dear Secret Santa,
I would like a drawing of my OC Kirrah. If you're not comfortable with drawing aliens, you could draw Rose instead. If you'd like to draw them with their friends, you can see a reference here and their folder is here. It contains all the information you should need.

Thank you, and happy holidays!

You don't have to write exactly like I did, but you get the idea. The more information they can access, the better.
          OC Creators: If you fear that your reference pictures are unclear, consider filling out this sheet to make it easier for your santa. (It is not a requirement; it's only if you think it would make things easier.)
          Out of courtesy for your santa, please only ask for innocent things (no gore/sexuality/scantily clad characters).
          Then please comment, reply, or note me with the journal link so I can give it to your Secret Santa.

Writers, if you're asking for an original character fanfic, then please make sure that you have enough original fiction posted so that your Secret Santa can get into your characters' heads.

References might include the following: pictures you drew, fan art/gift art from others, original written work, others' fanfics, memes, filled-out character questionnaires...

Feel free to include fun little tidbits! For example, I might state in a reference that Rose loves daisies, strawberries, and Debussy music.* If someone were writing me a RosexDark fanfic, they might choose to have Dark pick daisies or wild strawberries for her, which would be a sweet surprise for me to read on Christmas morning.

*All this is true.



Being a Santa

If you are drawing/writing about someone's original characters and you need to know more about them, feel free to ask me to contact the OC creator on your behalf. If you need to do this, please do it ASAP, as I can't guarantee how active the OC creator is.

Expectations

Written works should be about 500 words long. Going a little under is okay; going a little (or a lot) over is awesome. Please edit your work at least once for grammar and all that.

Visual art should take between 1-10 hours*, depending on your skill and free time, although going over this range would be wonderful. Please include a background of some sort and make it something you're reasonably proud to have in your gallery.
*No, you don't have to keep exact track. This is a guideline.

How to Enter

Comment and let me know the following things:
          Whether you would like to draw or write
          What you are not comfortable drawing/writing about (yaoi/yuri, certain species, certain pairings/fandoms, whatever else*)
          For visual art, please mention the types of art that you do like & don't like (eg. if you love cartoony art but hate anime) I cannot guarantee that I can get you exactly what you like, but I'll get as close as I can.

*You will not be asked to write or draw mature content.

Important: You will receive the same type of art that you create. Writers will receive a fanfic, while visual artists will receive a piece of visual art.
